This verse was saying to me that if we need any help that we need to cry to the LOrd for help and then God will come and help you. I think that this will help us on our trip because when we need help we just need to ask God and if you do it meaninfully you probably will get help. ~ Logan
Immediately when I read this I thought of the people we'll be working with. The rest of this world treats them like dirt, just like the Egyptians treated their slaves. "...abused and battered us, in a cruel and savage slavery." And sure, people don't flat out make slaves of these people, but they might as well. I think the comments, looks they give these people, the thoughts they think about them, are probably just as bad as being physically abused(and I'm sure that happens enough too). And so we need to show them God's love and let them know that He can be their refuge.
I agree. we need to show people God`s love, support and help. Knowing that God will help us when we need it, and the fact that He is behind us at all time, gives me more confidence and power to go to LA and help. Because it is true that most of the world treats poor, homeles,... like dirt, but with God and our contribution we can help, make a change and that makes me feel very good about our team. If we believe we are safe. barbora
The corner that we will be going to used or still is, im not sure, called Blood Corner right? The people needed some way to exscape from all of the violence and craziness. People had to of been praying for this area constantly, so couldn't the Harambee place be God's awnser? Could it be Blood Corner's land of milk and honey?
When we cry out to God, he listens. Simple no? But it's hard to humble yourself to ask for help, even when it is God we are talking about. I personally struggle with asking for help. I don't like it, and I would rather prefer to do things on my own. But on this trip that is virtually impossible because we are going to need God and each other to make it through the week we are there.
if i've done something wrong, i find it hard to ask for help. and I especially hate telling GOd or people that i'm stumbling over the same thing over and over again. The Isrealites might've had that some problem- and maybe the people in LA will be going through the same thing. Just another way to connect to them, right?
i love the verse that says "We cried out to God, the God-of-Our-Fathers: He listened to our voice", this is great beacsue it seems like im always talking to God and asking him whats up and if he can help me in situations, and even though sometimes i think is there really someone up there listening to me? or is he really listening to me? it makes me wonder but i always know that no matter what God is there, with me listening to me, and i love that. it gives me great joy and excitement.
I think a lot of the people in LA have been abused and battered at some point. I also believe that they have lost all possible hope because of that. Like this verse says, "Cry out to God," people except immediate results. But it will take time, and we are going to LA to show that hope that is still out there and show them that peaceful land of milk and honey.
I'm leaning towards Michelle's interpretation of these verses and L.A. They are definitely the battered ones, and the escape, the milk and honey of the place are those who are there to show them God's love. Those who are there to help and to serve them.
I think these verses mean that if we ask for help if in trouble the Lord if he thinks is necessary will provide a way out.
In L.A. could we somehow be a way out to some of the people down there? because we are going down there to help them and for prolly most of them who don't know Jesus, He could be the way out?
This verse means that God's always going to be there to help us out. Well...if He's always there for us then the same goes for the people we'll be serving in LA right? Our job will be telling these people about what God can do and then they can ask Him for help. ~Heidi
