Onesiphorus has come to him and he feels better because someone looks up to him while he's in jail. It's kinda like now, the homeless and drinkers are like him in jail and they look up to us...*Shanda

I like verse 18. God treats us all the same and has no favorites. In LA, we need to treat all the homeless just as one of us because they are no different in God's eyes, and should be no different in our eyes either.

To me this verse really talks about how God will love anybody and loves everybody. We should express to the people in LA that no matter what their past is that God is always their to comfort them and take them in. He wont turn anybody away just for the mistakes that they've made in their lives.

i think i want to be that kind of person. That someone who has no where to go can come to my house... to me... that i won't embarressed of them. I know one friend whose house is always open to me even if she's not there... it's amazing. And i think that's a lot like God. And that's what i love.

i think (key word think) that this verse is trying to tell us that even if we are in a city or and entire country that has turned away from christ that we should still go there and help out and try and get a few back to God so i think that is y we are going to the homeless because there are more of them that are away from God and that is y we chose them to bring to him

Hmm...What I like about this verse is that the person speaking is saying that he hopes that God treats Onesiphorous as well on his last day as Onesiphorous treated him while he was in jail, and even when he was out of jail. We don't get to play favorites, and we shouldn't judge people because they have been in jail or some other such trouble.

These verses are telling me that we shouldn't judge people for where they've been, what they've done, things of the past, but we should accept people for who they are and leave the judging aspect up to God.

I think because this Onesiphorus guy didn't judge Paul...etc. he blesses him for it and asks God to show him 'special kindness'

When everybody abandons someone, that's when we need to reach out to them more than ever. When all their friends and family have disowned them and cut all ties, we should still be there with open arms. We need to be just like the one friend that Onesiphorus knew would still be his friend. No matter what. And in being there, arms open, accepting, no matter what, we will be showing God's unconditional love.

Paul, a disciple of God, was thrown into jail for his beliefs. Because of that people started to shun him and turn him away...but Onesiphorous and his family didn't. They reacted completely opposite; Onesiphorous actually sought out Paul. What Paul says is that Onesiphorous will be rewarded for his kindness and trust in Heaven. That's a great example for us because we're about to go to LA into a similar situation. The people we'll be serving aren't going to be perfect, they will lots of flaws. But we all do don't we? What we need to do is make the people about us, as Paul did about Onesiphorous. Thankful...

Should we be too embarrased to care about those who are thrown in jail, or are in other less than "desirable" situations. No. We should go and help. I think we're supposed to be like Onesiphorus and those we meet are sort of like Paul.

It also demonstrates that Paul loves everybody and uses anybody for his will.

I like what Theresa said. I would also like people that to know that they are always welcomed in my house. No matter what I am always there to listen, help, and simply be a friend.
