May 30 - Cathy: Psalm 12:5
Friday, June 09, 2006
click on the title slide for verse

"Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now rise," says the Lord. "I will protect them from those who malign them."

My interpretation: God hears the cries of those in need and promises to rise up and defend them from evil. He will send us out to answer the cries he hears. We are His hands and feet on this trip. *Cathy

Question: What are the cries you are hearing? What is your response?

We are going to LA to the dark streets where the homeless groan. As Cathy said, we are going to LA to help answer those crys. Ultimately, God is the one to answer them, but we are there to show them God. God hears every need and sends us out to help them with there needs.

We are going to LA where there are people groaning at every corner. We have to do our best to answer those cries but we have to rely all on God because He is the one who is going to help us reach those people.

Right not the cries that im' hearing are completely different from the ones i'm going to be hearing in a few DAYS(!!!). Now the cries are more the of the typical high school ones i guess you could say, but when we are down there i hope that we will hear nothing but the cries of the people we are trying to help and God's cry to us about how to help it.

My response to this verse is that God sees us and everything we go through. He knows. When He knows that we've had enough and that we can't do things on our own He'll be right there to help us.

    i'm broken, i'm lost, i'm empty...
those are the cries i'm hearing. And i'm not really sure how to respond, honestly. Other than just to be there for support, and show God's love to people.
And i can do the same in LA

I really like this verse. It's like God has heard all these people suffering and finally he's just like "Ok, that's it." And so he goes and helps them. And that's what we need to do. We 'hear the cries' We've seen glimpses of the poverty. Now we've had enough and we're going to go try and help out.

i think this verse is saying that God is tired of how the poor people are treated and how they have to live so he sends us in to help him out so that the poor can get out of there and we can show them the way to righousness i think we can use this alot on our trip because this verse pretty much says what we are going down there to do

HOLY BUCKETS! This verse is totally awesome! Sometimes I check other translations to better help me understand the verse(s) but nothing could compare with the Message on this one! My favorite part is "God speaks: "I've had enough; I'm on my way To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched."

It's like he's saying I can't take it anymore that you are suffering! He loves us so much and to me that's what this verse is saying he loves us unconditionaly because he wants to heal us he can't take it anymore that we are being hurt. When I imagine this makes think of a picture of the Lord enfolding us in this huge bear hug and the pain and suffering just fall away.

We're going down to LA to answer the groans of the homeless. But the only way we can answer them is with God's help. We are God's way of reaching these people.

God protects those who are weak and cry out to him.

The cries that I hear?.. I don't know if it's what i hear so much as it's what I see. Almost everytime I turn on the tv something bad is happening somewhere to someone. My response is always a feeling of helplesness, I want to do something but I don't have the means to do it and it drives me crazy.

I think everyones'ries are different. I think that we need to be strong and listen to the poeple in LA, because I think just being there and listenig to them gives them hope and means so much. I hope I will not only be a good listener but also a good massanger.
