It's saying that money isn't the only "wealth" in life. There's wealth in being able to be yourself with God. You don't have to pretend to be something you're not, because God would see right through it anyway.

But if the only wealth we're after is money, then we're just digging ourselves into a hole. And I think that we really need to remember that while we’re on the trip, money isn’t everything.

I really like verse 8 cause it says the bread on the table and shoes on our feet is enough. That is hard to take in cause people in LA that we will be with, don't have that. It's hard to go down there knowing that we have way more than them. I also think it is important to remember that God will provide the money when needed. Like, if we aren't able to get 150 dollars for LA, some how God will provide that for us.

So money could quite possibly be one of the easiest ways to fall away from faith if I read that right. ''Going down that path, some lose their footing in the faith completely..."

Just the fact that some have lost their faith scares me to death really, not because of the money bit, but because I know it's possible to fall away. To stray from the path and get lost. I know that you can always come back but still, it's scary to think about.

So if we have food and shoes, we're good. Because we can travel and we can survive. These two things are really all that's needed to live and all that's needed to share God's Love. Hmmm...I've got to remind myself of this the next time I think about that PSP, ipod and laptop I'd like to eventually get.

In verse 10 the part about losing your faith reminded me of the book 'Night' he was in so much poverty and destruction that he lost his way. that's just what it reminded me of even though that doesn't have to do with money.

To me in verse 6 it's saying there isn't any wealth in money. It all lies with being yourself with God.

I think my favorite part of this whole passage is 'Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless' how much more straightforward could you get. Birth and Death seem to me to be two of the most important things that could ever happen to you and if you don't need money then what makes us think we need it the rest of the time?

Today it seems like a lot of people have that problem of only seeking money. It really can destroy you in more ways than one. If you're only working you dont always have time for your family or for God, of you could try gambling and that could get you in trouble as well. That is why the Bible tells us not to only seek money, we have enough if we just have food on our table and shoes on our feet. I think that is something that we should try to express to the people in LA. That nobody needs a whole lot, just the nessecities (food, clothing, God)and we're good.

I really like Chelsea`s comment that money is not the only "wealth" in life. A lot of people think that in order to have a fullfiling life you have to have money ans stuff and a lot of it. It si true that we need money to surive to get food, clothes, ... But this seeking for money takes us from everything else, money is the most important thing in this society. Everyone wants the most money so it would give them maybe power, some people hide behine money, it creates tension, arguements even within families and friends, and I think taht is ridiculous. Money does not make us happy, doesnt save us or give us peace and happy and healthy life with our family and friends.Money makes some people blind. i think we need to spend more valuable time with family, friends, and God, by talkin to Him and praying for giving us the real important and beautiful things in life.

I love these verses because they give you the honest truth of what money does to people. Our world has become so money obsessed that it seems to now only cater to the people who can afford it. Where does that leave everyone else? Not everyone is the hollywood golden kids, and there is not always money to spare in our families...so what are they supposed to do? That is why it is a great thing that we are going on our trip because it can show people that not everything worth something has to do with money

I am in constantly need to be reminded that there's a difference between need and want...things I want I can always live without. We have all been blessed with our needs...we all have shoes and bread. The people we'll be serving in LA won't necessarily have everything they need...that's what we get to help them with and that's one of the things that excites me the most.

every mission trip my metality seems to change completely about money and my wants and needs, kinda like in verse eight it says, "if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that's enough." That's how i feel... but time passes and i soon forget and i lust for money things. It's really sad and discouraging that i keep falling into the same traps over and over again...
